Become a Renewable Energy Challenge Volunteer!   We work hard within Minnesota to develop an interest and ability in kids that live here.  Every year, over 700 volunteers reach children at an age when they make critical decisions (grades 4 – 9) that will impact their ability to pursue STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering and Math) education and careers, and enable these future citizens to be technologically

Energy output OR design: Turbines are tested in a 48" x 48" wind tunnel and each team will have two attempts. Help us record the amount of energy created using the Vernier logging system! In addition, judges from the renewable industry will ask questions and provide feedback during a 15 minute interview with each team. Teams will be evaluated on innovation, construction quality and materials selection. Training provided.

Solar Boat race: Help us time and record the alliance teams' solar boat score in the water trough. Separate awards are given for this race.

Research: Judges from the renewable industry will listen to each team's 5-10 minute presentation regarding real-world career topics and have time to ask questions and provide feedback about clean energy applications.

Data Entry: Help record scores in our Judges' Room.

Set-Up and Tear-Down: Help us for a few hours in the morning or afternoon. 

Team Check-In: Greet teams, coaches and spectators on Challenge Day OR greet teams at the judging stations! You can sign up for a few hours.
